Hello everyone, we are back for a new recap’ of IT trends but this time, to the program for January: Smart cities, 5G, Windows 8.1, CES and the blockchain ! I take this opportunity to wish you a happy new year, which promises 12 new top IT News appointments rich in news!!
Ready for the 1st one of the year? Come on, let’s go!
TOP 1 : Cities of the future
WiFI hotspot, intelligent parking, 4G (soon 5G?), intelligent urban design, connected objects, Beacons…. These are the novelties, characteristics, smarts cities but, what if we see further?
Lovers of smart cities have challenged themselves to create a futuristic city ! Bill Gates invested 80 million dollars to create this city worthy of the greatest American films in the Arizona desert. But he is not the only one who wants to invest in the future, Prince Mohammed Ben Salmane, heir to Saudi Arabia’s project to create a futuristic city on the banks of the Red Sea, “NEOM”. Who will make this crazy dream come true first? The bets are on!
TOP 2: 5G deployed in France
If I say: Bordeaux, Nantes, Grenoble, Douai, Le Havre, Saint-Etienne, Lille, Montpellier and Lyon ? What are you thinking about? To the cities in France where 5G will be tested? BINGO !
Sébastien Soriano, the president of Arcep (the independent administrative authority responsible for regulating electronic communications and postal services in France) announced the launch of tests in these 9 cities during the year.
However, don’t get your hopes up for now, the marketing of the 5G should not do this before 2020, another 2 years to wait, and yes for now we will be satisfied with the 4G 🙂
TOP 3: The end of standard Windows 8.1 support
Only 5 years before having to migrate to Windows 10 (operating system launched in July 2015), the date is gradually approaching.
On January 9, 2018, Windows declared that it would no longer provide standard Windows 8.1 support, and that only monthly updates will be maintained.
As for the Windows 7 operating system, standard support is no longer provided since January 2015 and monthly updates will stop on January 14, 2020. IT team, start preparing yourself, such a migration can take time unless you are equipped with ceBox® !
TOP 4: The CES in Las Vegas
Are you a start-up, a company or a new technology enthusiast?
Then you must be familiar with the Consumer Electronic Show, more commonly called the CES. It is the largest trade fair for technological leisure and the digital world. Organized every year in January in Las Vegas, this event was not lacking with its 51st edition. Many innovative products were presented, however some of it knew how to stand out as: the Eggo Booth, a 3D photo booth, Aelous a digital assistant robot, an intelligent connected refrigerator…
I could give you many other examples, but I have only one more thing to say: When will these products will be launch?
TOP 5 : The Blockchain
We had already talked briefly on the subject of the blockchain in our last article on Bitcoin in December, but this time let us focus on the blockchain itself.
The Blockchain to make it simple, a technology that allows information to be stored and transmitted transparently. This makes it possible to eliminate intermediaries in many sectors, but mainly in finance. It is therefore a technology that makes it possible to decentralize and secure exchanges and transaction histories.
Many companies are looking at this technology to integrate it into their strategy. To see where this will lead…
And here we are, I know you wanted more but the TOP of the January news is over, we’ll see you soon for the rest of the February news!
