Hello everyone, as it should be this is the new recap’ of the IT trends of the month of February, let’s go !
TOP 1: Serverless computing, the new trendy IT term
You may have heard the term “Serverless“… or not, but this is the new term in vogue in IT services ! It has been appearing on the web for some time now but what does that mean?
“Serverless” is not to be taken literally because this technology does work with physical servers. Only the suppliers manage these infrastructures.
The purpose of Serverless is to charge only pay-as-you-go user fees, so we could also talk about IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service). The end customer receives and has access to their data on demand via the cloud.
More infrastructure to manage, energy savings, greener, very fast implementation…serverless infrastructure is definitely is riding high !
TOP 2: Cyber attacks did not spare the 2018 Winter Olympics
A new cyber attack hit the IT planet, and even the 2018 Winter Olympics were no exception! On 9 February, during the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, a computer attack took place.
Indeed the public Wi-Fi network became inaccessible and the servers were affected, which had as a direct consequence to prevent visitors from printing their entry ticket via the Olympique site. Fortunately, this could be detected quickly, on Saturday morning everything was back to normal.
I leave you to your part of Cluedo to find the culprit, place for suspicions and speculation…
As for the Olympics in France in 2024, this does not predict well. There’s a good chance there’ll be attempted attacks! Ladies and gentlemen of the organizing committee of the Paris Olympic Games, the Wisper team is at your disposal for a demonstration of the ceBox® solution!
TOP 3 : Artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, how to find your way?
These are 3 different terms, but in our minds often get confused, so let’s clarify things.
Artificial Intelligence: this is the term for the broadest domain. In short, it is the reproduction of the human cognitive system through artificial systems. AI has become a strategic asset for companies but also a great deal.
Several technologies have appeared in recent years such as chatbots, robots (Honda has created Asimo, a robot violinist), automatic speech recognition…
Machine Learning is applied to solving complex problems by modelling phenomena and algorithms. This can be used in particular for strategic decision-making.
And finally, Deep Learning: it is learning in deep neural networks. To put it simply, it is voice recognition, facial recognition and automated processing of technological language, which is very popular with GAFA.
TOP 4 : The Cloud Dfinity project, a project with a future
Reduce the cost of the Cloud by 90% compared to Amazon and Google seems impossible to you? Well, that’s what Dfinity is all about.
The company plans to create a decentralized global computing cloud based on blockchain technology. The team, composed of cryptography specialists, researchers and mathematicians, embarked on this adventure in 2017.
Their technology would not only reduce costs but also reduce processing times, while guaranteeing data confidentiality. Now that they have raised the necessary funds for this project, that is to say $61 million, we await the continuation impatiently.
TOP 5 : The NIS Directive turn up in France
The NIS Directive, Network and Information Security, adopted by the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union on July 6, 2016, arrives in France.
The French law transposing the NIS Directive was promulgated on Monday 26 February 2018:
- Strengthening national cyber security capacities,
- the establishment of a framework for voluntary cooperation between EU Member States,
- the reinforcement by each State of the cyber security of essential service operators,
- the establishment of common European rules on cyber security for digital service providers.
The main parties concerned are service operators and digital service providers who are liable to a fine of up to 100.00 euros.
It’s over for the month of February, I wish you a good month of March and I will have the pleasure to meet you next week for a new IT News!
