Hello everyone, the spring date for the recap’ of IT trends of the month of March is now!
TOP 1: A connected human brain by 2030?
Don’t pinch yourself, you’re not dreaming, you get it. At the Exponential Finance conference in New York, Ray Kurzweil, Google’s engineering director, said humans are destined to become hybrids by 2030.
The concept? Install nano-robots implanted in the brain to stimulate unused brain areas in humans.
A technological advance that may seem frightening, except for Elon Musk who created Neuralink. His goal? Push the concept even further with the goal of connecting the brain directly to a computer. Let’s keep an eye on this case…
TOP 2: Quantum computers, but what is it?
Explaining what a quantum computer is is not an easy task and in a few lines it is practically impossible, but let’s try…
First of all, a classic computer relies on the processing of information, it will simply look for the data and retransmit them, for that it uses the binary code (0 and 1).
The quantum computer, it will rest on undetermined facts, to understand well, the best is to take the theory of Schrödinger’s cat : A cat is placed in a box with a vial of poison opening at an indeterminate time and in a completely random way, as long as you do not open the box, you cannot know if the cat is alive or dead, we consider that it is alive AND dead at the same time, here is how a quantum computer manages information. They can be opposed and verdicts at the same time, as long as it is not proved otherwise.
The system is based on qubits, i.e. it works in superposition of ket 0 and ket 1. Several companies are in the race: Google, IBM, D-Wave, Microsoft, Intel… See which will win it.
TOP 3: Slingshot, an impressive malware!
The Slingshot malware was discovered recently (and by chance) when it would have been active for about 5 years! How did we miss it? Simple, it is a super malware, the cream of the crop, which strongly impressed the Kaspersky Lab researchers who presented it at the Security Analyst summit in Cancun.
It is present in MikroTik routers and would infect them by downloading files before running them. Leaving the door open for other malicious files.
This malware is all the more formidable because it is almost undetectable, which makes the task more difficult for those who want to eradicate it. Other manufacturers may also be affected.
We’ll keep an eye on that story, but in the meantime, let’s move on to TOP 4.
TOP 4: Telemedicine, a solution against medical deserts?
Telemedicine consists in consulting one’s doctor via an interposed screen, this practice is already in place in certain hospital establishments but remains poorly developed for lack of means of financing.
However, the year 2018 should see a change. The government indeed wishes to democratize this practice in order to respond to the problems of lack of doctors.
The Magnolias Geriatric Hospital was one of the precursors in this field. During a remote consultation, the patient can discuss with his doctor thanks to a cabin equipped with a screen of real size. This makes up for the absence of specialised doctors in hospitals, for example.
However, telemedicine is not the only change planned in the hospital field, health laws concerning new technologies or artificial intelligence will soon be invited in hospitals, but to know more we will have to wait for the TOP IT in April.
TOP 5 : The new update of Windows : place to spring cleaning
The next update of Windows 10 should be released during the month of April and the big major change that should make some happy is its installation time. Indeed, the update will now install in about 30 minutes instead of 82 minutes for the previous version.
Other new features will also be on the program such as :
- Timeline: allows you to return to a previous Windows state.
- Near Share: allows file exchange via Bluetooth.
- eSIM : Support for pre-integrated SIM cards.
- Diagnostic Data Viewer app: allows the display of telemetry data that the OS communicates to Microsoft.
Another project is also underway, Windows 10 S Mode, which will improve the system’s performance in terms of power consumption and autonomy.
An expected update that will be installed in less than two if you are equipped with our ceBox® solution.
And here we are, the TOP of the Mars news is over, we’ll see you soon for the April TOP IT news !
