Many people are wondering about Green IT and the responsibility of IT services towards the environment.
At Wisper, we believe in eco-responsible innovation. The environment is therefore a subject that affects us.
We will explain to you what the current problems are and above all: what the solutions are. Did you know that:
- Global warming, Alaska’s glaciers have melted 34 billion m3 of water per year or more than one million litres per second lost.
- Air pollution costs $225 billion a year worldwide, or $7135 per second. Air pollution is the 4th leading cause of premature death in the world.
- The extinction of endangered species, an animal or plant species disappearing every 20 minutes or 26280 species disappearing each year. Nearly a quarter of all animal and plant species could disappear by the middle of the century due to human activities.
These are only three of many environmental challenges.
Preoccupations that no longer only affect individuals
Companies are now at the heart of this challenge through CSR plans, new standards and legislation imposed by the government.
Major groups such as Apple, Deloitte, IBM, Cisco, 3M and Generan Eletric have understood the importance of adopting a CSR approach. They have taken advantage of these problems to improve their brand image and they all communicate their CSR plan on their website.
Most consumers have more confidence in respectful and transparent brands, which gives the brand credibility, and many solutions are now being adopted by companies such as planting trees, making donations to animal welfare associations, selective sorting, recycling or even reducing CO2 and energy savings, that’s where Wisper comes in.
According to the 2017 Responsible Digital Benchmark conducted by the GreenIT Club, 46% of the company’s energy consumption is focused on powering the infrastructure and 24% on user workstations. On average, an employee rejects 360 Kg of Co2e.
As for greenhouse gas emissions, the problem is mainly related to employees’ commuting to and from work, and environmental protection is a project that is very important to us at Wisper.
The ceBox® solution we have developed not only meets the problems encountered by the IT department, it also fits perfectly into companies’ CSR plans. Indeed, the ceBox® solution allows to save up to 80% on the electricity consumption of the desktops.
Let’s make a comparison in terms of Co2 rejection and electricity consumption: 1Kwh = 0,09 Co2
- 11 100 Kwh = 1Tq* Co2
*Tons of CO2 equivalent
Comparative table ceBox® vs. classic PC :
10 000 ceBox® over 5 years | 10 000 Pc over years |
171 Tq Co2 | 1762 Tq Co2 |
171 Back and Forth Paris/New-York | 1762 Back and Forth Paris/New-York |
2 394 000 Kms in car | 24 668 000 Kms in car |
239,4 T of product papers | 2466,8 T of product papers |
With the ceBox® solution, the emission of Tq Co2 can be reduced by almost 5 times. That’s to say, the saving of about 168 round trips from Paris to New York.
We work with like-minded partners
Intel company, with which we partner on Intel NUC boxes, saved 215 billion litres of water between 1998 and 2016, which is equivalent to the water consumption of more than 520,000 American households for a full year.
While greenhouse gases have reduced carbon emissions by 60% in absolute terms. In 2016, they allocated $30 million to energy conservation and alternative energy projects, as well as energy conservation. Since 2008, they have saved enough energy to power 285,000 US households kWh for one year.
DAF will also find it financially beneficial to replace your current solution with CeBox®, which will save you money on your fleet’s electricity consumption and at the same time help protect the environment by reducing your Co2 emissions.
